My 90% rule

If I have the chance to get off my ass to go do something, 90% of the time I am glad I made the effort.  Most of the time once I think about my rule, I am easily convinced to head out the door.  The first step of a ten mile run is the most difficult.

I have my 30th high school reunion on Saturday night.  Again I am confronted with my 90% rule.  Moreover, when I go through the pros and cons in my head, the positives far outweigh the negatives.

1. I have plenty of people I would like to say hello to.
2. I still look pretty good, even with my thinning hair
3. I had fun at the previous reunions
4. My fiance understands that people go solo

So what is my problem?  My career has stalled, and I am financially under the gun.  I don't like to lie or even obfuscate direct questions.  I figure I can say that my trading business is fine, but I am looking for something different. With this tactic I may actually find something interesting with the people I talk.

I will go by the 90% rule and figure that the night will be fun regardless of any sense of dread I may have.  The first step through the door will be the hardest, and I am sure the last step at the end of the night will be the easiest.  Better not drink too much.
